Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate the use of a bulk-like, MoSe2-based saturable absorber (SA) for femtosecond harmonic mode-locking of a fiber laser. It is shown that mode-locked pulses with a temporal width of 737 fs to 798 fs can be generated at various harmonic frequencies from erbium-doped fiber cavity by using a MoSe2/PVA-deposited side-polished fiber as a SA. The maximum harmonic frequency is 3.27 GHz (212th harmonic).
