Pathways to a 4 μm Dy3+ Fluoride Glass Fiber Laser

Abstract

Nonradiative quenching in Dy3+ is found to be much stronger than predicted by the multiphonon exponential gap law. There are nonetheless possible approaches to achieving lasing at ~4 μm in a Dy-doped fluoride fiber laser.
