Monolithic multi-pass thin-disk laser amplifier providing near fundamental mode 2.3 mJ pulse energy at 1.4 kW average output power and 950 fs pulse duration

A Yb:YAG thin-disk multi-pass laser amplifier pumped at 941 nm delivers 2.3 mJ of pulse energy at 1.4 kW average output power, 950 fs pulse duration and M2 < 1.8 beam quality. Zero-phonon-line pumping at 969 nm improves M2 to below 1.4 at 1.8 mJ pulse energy and 1.1 kW average output.
