Novel CW and actively Q-switched 1066 nm laser with Nd:GdYNbO4 under direct pumping

Abstract

CW and acousto-optically Q-switched operations with a novel Nd:Gd0.69Y0.3NbO4 mixed crystal were demonstrated under direct pumping. In CW operation, the maximum output power of 1.65 W was obtained with a slope efficiency of 36.6%. The modulation repetition of 10 kHz and 20 kHz in the pulsed Nd:GdYNbO4 laser were investigated. At an absorbed pump power of 7.44W and repetition of 20kHz, the pulse width and peak power were 24.5 ns, 3.09 kW respectively.
