Spontaneous Laser Line Sweeping in Tm Doped Fiber Laser

Abstract

We present a thulium doped fiber ring laser with spontaneous laser line sweeping and self pulse formation for the first time. The output center wavelength sweeps around 1970 nm and bounds for short wavelength periodically. The maximum sweeping range is 14 nm. The sweeping rate is controllable and the laser can transfer to CW regime by changing the polarization state.
