Tapered photonic crystal fiber for wide repetition rate tuning of optoacoustically mode-locked fiber laser

Abstract

Tapering a few-m length of solid-core PCF results in a three-times-broader optoacoustic gain bandwidth, enabling the GHz repetition rate of an optoacoustically mode-locked fiber laser to be continuously tuned over more than 50 MHz.
