Short-Wavelength Thulium-Doped Fiber Laser for Three-Photon Microscopy

Abstract

An ultrafast thulium-doped fiber laser operating at 1.8 µm with intensity sufficient for three-photon absorption processes is demonstrated. The pulses can be used to observe cultured cells expressing red-fluorescent dye.
