A comparison of zero phonon line and conventional pumping in high power CW Yb:YAG thin disk laser

Abstract

A quantitative comparison between zero phonon line (ZPL) and 940nm pumping of Yb:YAG disk laser with numerical and experimental results is reported. An improvement of optical efficiency, reduction in disk temperature and back reflected pump power at ZPL observed.
