Efficient self-frequency Raman conversion in a passively Q-switched diode-pumped Yb:KGd(WO4)2 laser

Abstract

Self-frequency Raman conversion in Q-switched diode-pumped Yb:KGd(WO4)2 laser was demonstrated with fundamental-to-first-Stokes conversion efficiency as high as 40%. The output pulses have been obtained simultaneously at 1038 nm and at 1145 nm with energy of 10.8 pJ and 8.2 pJ as short as 1.7 ns and 0.7 ns, respectively, at the repetition rate of13.3 kHz.
