Abstract
We report on a highly efficient 1.3-µm continuous-wave (cw) Nd:GdVO4 laser pumped by a 879-nm Ti:Sapphire laser. The maximum output power of 1.03W with input pump power of 1.91W, the slope efficiency of 60.7 %, which is higher than quantum efficiency of conventional 808 nm pumping, and optical-to-optical efficiency of 54 % were obtained. Non-radiative transition induced heat generation in Nd:GdVO4 crystal under lasing and non-lasing conditions are discussed.
