Abstract

Continuous-wave 456-nm blue light generation is reported from a periodically polled MgO:LiNbO3 crystal by single-pass frequency doubling of a 912-nm Nd:GdVO4 laser. A maximum blue power of 167 mW with 8.3% infrared-to-blue conversion efficiency and 4.2%/W normalized conversion efficiency resulted from a 10-mm-long nonlinear device with 4.19-mm domain period and that operated at 44.5oC temperature.
