Extremely low quantum defect oscillation of Ytterbium fiber laser by laser diode pumping at room temperature

Abstract

Ytterbium laser emissions at 980.6 nm and 983.0 nm are observed by laser diode pumping at 978.1 nm while room temperature. Their quantum defects are 0.26 % and 0.50 %, respectively.
