Efficient high-power VECSEL generates 20 W continuous-wave radiation in a fundamental transverse mode

Abstract

We demonstrate a 960-nm VECSEL generating 20 W continuous-wave output power in TEM00transverse mode. The highly efficient laser has a slope efficiency of 49% and an overall optical-to-optical efficiency of 43%.
