Abstract

We analyze the performance of nonlinear CPA-systems with common experimental input pulses. It is shown that small amplitude and phase modulations of the input pulses significantly lower the pulse contrast at the output of nonlinear CPA-systems. The Kerr-effect precludes nonlinear amplification if the initial pulse-quality is low. Clean input pulses are targeted for nonlinear amplification.
