Room temperature operation of CW diode pumped Er:YVO4 laser at 1.6 µm

Power 0.38 W at wavelength 1602 nm was obtained from Er:YVO4 laser, continuously pumped by laser diode operating at wavelength 976 nm. The laser slope efficiency in respect to absorbed pumping power was 24 %.
