Development of Anisotropic Transparent Ceramics for Laser Media

Rare earth doped anisotropic transparent ceramics with oriented micro-domain structure have been developed by means of advanced electromagnetic processing. The cavity loss of Nd:FAP ceramics was significantly improved from α=3.54cm−1 (previous report) to 1.14cm−1.
