Cryogenic Laser Properties of Er:YAG and Er:Sc2O3 – A Comparison

Abstract

At cryogenic temperatures, Er:Sc2O3 offers spectroscopic properties that can make it a more attractive laser material than Er:YAG when a very small quantum defect is desired. We discuss these properties, and representative laser results.
