Yb-doped Bismuthate Glass waveguide laser fabricated by Ultrafast Laser Inscription

We demonstrate laser action from an ultrafast laser inscribed Yb doped bismuthate glass waveguide. When pumped using a 975 nm diode laser, efficient lasing was observed at 1059 nm with a maximum output power of 148 mW and a slope efficiency of 64%.
