High brightness Yb:YAG planar waveguide laser with an unstable resonator formed with a novel laser-machined, toroidal mode-selective mirror

Abstract

A novel toroidal micro-stripe mirror, produced by laser machining, provides transverse mode selection in a hybrid waveguide-unstable resonator. The Yb:YAG-sapphire composite planar waveguide laser produces 326 W at high beam quality.
