Abstract

We present experimental results on the use of a dissimilar two-core fiber as a channel-dropping filter based on the principle of a grating-frustrated coupler. We demonstrate that UV-trimming can be performed to obtain a perfect restoration of coupling between the cores over more than 20nm. We also show how an intra-core Bragg grating can be inscribed in one of the cores while maintaining 100% coupling.
