Cryogenic fiber-Bragg-grating temperature sensors using polyethylene and polystyrene substrates

Abstract

Low-temperature sensing using fiber gratings fixed on polyethylene and polystyrene substrates has been studied. The temperature sensitivities are both 50 pm/K at 77 K, which is higher than that of a Teflon substrate by 34 percent.
