Abstract

We report self-assembled water-air periodic structures in a hollow optical fiber by a flame brushing technology. By changing the temperature of the flame, the size and the period of the water plugs were controlled to the water volume of a few picoliters. The detailed fabrication process and optical characteristics were discussed.
