Femtosecond Time Resolved Studies of Carrier Excitation and Relaxation Dynamics in Various Dielectrics

Abstract

We study the different processes of electronic excitation and relaxation occurring when an intense short laser pulse impinges a transparent dielectric. We show that they are strongly material dependent, and strongly influence optical breakdown.
