Multi-axial strain sensing using polymer planar Bragg gratings

Abstract

We demonstrate, for the first time ever, a polymer planar Bragg grating sensor for simultaneous multi-axial strain sensing. The sensor containing two perpendicular gratings is used for measuring compressive and tensile strain at different angles.
