Abstract
Polyelectrolytes (PE) are charged polymers in solution with a wide range of functionalities that have been used for various applications including surface functionalization for biosensing. In this presentation we will describe the standard approach and mechanisms involved in PE layer-by-layer deposition, present the advantages of such approach and the challenges it raises for biological sensing especially with respect to nonspecific binding as well as few examples of application for biosensing.
