Extreme time-multiplexing of optical data packets through ultrafast temporal focusing

Abstract

A temporal focusing technique capable of compressing arbitrary optical waveforms by several orders of magnitude is demonstrated. We present a proof-of-concept by shrinking and interleaving a 10-Mbit/s data packet into 10-Gbit/s sequences.
