Abstract
Our group has investigated a broad range of applications for the 308 nm XeCl excimer laser, and in the process studied laser tissue interactions in numerous tissues including normal and atherosclerotic coronary arteries and other blood vessels, cartilage, tendon, human lens, bone and myocardium. The investigations have revealed ablative thresholds as low as 10-15 mj/mm2 for myocardium, and as high as 60-70 mj/mm2 for ablation of bone and calcified arteries.
