Modelling of indocyanine green boluses with a finite element model of the adult human head and the Fick principle

Abstract

Using the Fick principle and a finite element model of light distribution, ICG boluses were simulated in a head model, showing measurable changes in cerebral blood flow using NIR surface measurements despite the superficial contamination.
