Abstract

We present a linear reconstruction scheme for a diffuse optical mammography system recently developed by Philips. We show that the reconstruction has to be initialized properly if there is a mismatch between the optical properties of coupling fluid and breast tissue. Provided that the initialization is performed carefully, a large mismatch can be handled within the framework of a linear algorithm.
