A Fast 512-Channel System for Real-Time Photoacoustic Imaging of Small Animals

Abstract

A fast 512-channel tomographic photoacoustic system for small animal imaging using a curved ultrasound array has been developed. For the first time, real-time tomographic imaging for functional photoacoustic studies is possible. Initial characterization/imaging is presented.
