Correcting for heterogeneous fluence profiles in photoacoustic imaging with diffuse optical tomography

Abstract

Diffuse optical tomography and photoacoustic tomography were combined to measure the optical absorption coefficient of a tissue mimicking phantom. Heterogeneous fluence maps were calculated from DOT absorption reconstructions and used to correct PAT reconstructions.
