Spatial and Spectral Features of Optical Response to Peripheral Nerve Stimulation Suggest Vascular Origin

Abstract

Electrical stimulation of the human sural nerve induces an optical response on a 100 ms timescale. On the basis of its spatial and spectral dependence, we hypothesize that it is generated by vascular motion.
