A Temporally Constrained Fast Dynamic Image Reconstruction Method

Abstract

We introduce here a temporally constrained image reconstruction method that enables fast dynamic tomographic imaging of the spatial distribution of tissue parameters (e.g., HbO2, Hb, StO2, etc). The proposed method decomposes the original time varying function into two parts: the time-invariant part and the time variant part. The time variant part is predefined to best represent the time variant feature of the unknowns, and the time invariants are only to be reconstructed. We evaluated the algorithm performance through experimental studies with dynamic imaging of vascular disease in foot. The results show that the temporally constrained algorithm leads to 26-fold acceleration in the image reconstruction as compared to conventional dynamic imaging methods that reconstruct all time frames data sequentially.
