Coreless side-polished fiber for multimode interference and highly sensitive refractive index sensing

Abstract

A novel coreless side-polished fiber structure is fabricated for implementing multimode interference and refractive index sensing. It’s found that an ultra-high sensitivity of 15666 nm/RIU can be achieved in SRI range of 1.438~1.444.
