Towards the combined use of Raman spectroscopy and interstitial optical tomography to improve the safety and diagnostic accuracy of brain needle biopsies

Abstract

We present the design of a fiberoptic system integrated onto a brain biopsy needle combining Raman spectroscopy for tissue characterization and sub-diffusion optical tomography for blood vessel detection to reduce the risk of haemorrhage.
