Cytochrome-C-Oxidase Exhibits Higher Brain-Specificity than Haemoglobin in Functional Activation

Abstract

Broadband NIRS measured changes in haemoglobin and cytochrome-c-oxidase (oxCCO) at different source-detector spacings during functional activation. oxCCO displayed high brain specificity, with haemoglobin response influenced by extracerebral layers.
