Abstract
The successful use of a pulsed laser to weld cylindrical connector contact elements formed from a flat strip material is reported (see Fig. 1). This permits a multislide machine to produce new types of electrical connectors using coil feeds, thereby increasing production speeds while achieving substantial cost reduction over forged parts of equivalent strength.
