Abstract
A new method for the generation of nanosecond iodine laser pulses is described. The method is based on pumping an iodine laser by a 25-nsec excimer laser pulse. The pumping geometry can be either transverse or longitudinal. A KrF laser with an emission wavelength of 248 nm and a XeCl laser at 308 nm have been successfully used as the pump sources.
