Abstract

As laser fusion experiments approach the regime of abiatively driven implosions, new demands are put on laser oscillators. It would be desirable to have a mode-locked pulse of 1.0-1.5-nsec duration to illuminate the target, synchronize it to much shorter reference pulse to trigger diagnostics, and provide a probe beam for x-ray backlighting.
