Abstract
Laser sensors play an important role as optical countermeasures to laser target designation. It is essential that the sensor be capable of detecting the illumination by a laser beam, the wavelength, and the angle of incidence over a wide field-of-view (FOV). Current laser sensors rely on the temporal coherence of lasers and use Michelson interferometry.1 This paper describes a novel laser sensor which utilizes the interference of polarized light in a wedge-shaped birefringent plate and can be made with a very wide FOV.
