Abstract

The 46-cm amplifier1 is the largest amplifier in the Nova laser system. The total system performance is largely determined by its characteristics. Three of these amplifiers will be cascaded at the end of each amplifier chain. Each amplifier is designed to provide a small signal gain of 1.9 and to amplify saturating pulses of 1-10 nsee.
