Abstract
Resonance ionization spectroscopy (RIS) has been demonstrated as a very important method for studying atomic transitions and for detecting small numbers of selected atoms. In this work resonance-enhanced saturated multiphoton ionization was first used to study the molecular structure of CO and to probe the two-photon transition process. Multistep ionization of CO was achieved through the following processes.
