Abstract

We report the operation of a laser oscillator in which one reflector is a self-pumped phase conjugate mirror. In contrast to previously reported phase conjugate resonator (PCR) lasers, it requires no pumping beams external to the phase conjugator and no mirrors external to the conjugating element. The laser employs a broadband gain medium and cavity but oscillates with a narrow linewidth.
