Abstract
Metallurgical applications of the lasers are the applications where energy of laser beam is effectively transferred into a metal substrate to change its structure and phases to obtain certain desired property. In laser materials interaction energy transfer takes place by photon-electron interactions with free or bound electron (inverse bremsstrahlung effect). These Interactions raise the energy state of the electrons in the conduction band, and the mechanisms are the same as the classical thermal conduction.
