Abstract

Pellet design for inertial confinement fusion is optimized by data on implosion processes such as absorption, transport, preheat, uniformity, and ignition. Various schemes of pellet implosion, utilizing direct or indirect irradiation and ablatively or nonablatively driven targets are reviewed.
