Abstract

Chemiluminescence from 1F(S) and \'(2Py2> was studied in a flow tube apparatus. Iodine and fluorine were mixed with a singlet delta oxygen flow supplied by a chemical generator, and the time histories of the fluorescence were monitored. Three mixing configurations were used. In the first, fluorine was mixed with the singlet delta oxygen upstream of the iodine injector. The peak IF{B) signal as a function of the iodine flow rate for a typical case is shown in Fig. 1. Addition of fluorine atoms from a microwave discharge increased the IF(B) signal by a factor of 3.
