Abstract

In continuation of numerous attempts to derive scaling laws for the plasma recombination laser, a relation for the small-signal gain of nonhydrogenic laser transitions has been established as a function of wavelength. Furthermore, inspection of different cooling mechanisms and their corresponding scaling relations clearly identify different operating regimes for the recombination laser.
