Self-pulsing in a nonlinear Fabry-Perot with a long medium-response time

Abstract

We extend and generalize the results of Ikeda and Akimoto1 and Gronchi et al.,2 which report instabilities along the positive slope regions of steady- state transfer curves for bistable nonlinear refractive systems whose medium response time Tn is greater than the cavity round-trip time Tc.
