Optical switching in organometallic films

Abstract

Previously we reported electrical field-induced switching between two stable resistance states in polycrystalline organometallic semiconducting films.1,2 These films consist of either copper or silver complexed with the electron acceptors tetracyanoethylene (TCNE), tetracyanonapthoquinodimethane (TNAP), tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ), or other derivatives of TCNQ. The electrical switching is reversible and fast and has a field-strength threshold of 2 × 103-2 × 104 V/cm, depending on material and conditions of growth.
