Use of planar laser induced fluorescence for combustion measurements

Abstract

Simultaneous multiple-point measurements of species concentration and other flow properties in combustion gases are needed to test models describing interactions between the chemistry and fluid mechanics of combustion phenomena. A number of techniques providing such data are currently under investigation, including Raman spectroscopy and laser-induced fluorescence. In this presentation we describe the development and use of planar laser- induced fluorescence (PLIF) for quantitative single-shot and multiple-frame measurements of combustion species concentrations.
